Whenever I came across opportunities to shoot subjects in dramatic lighting conditions I often wondered what it would be like to have an artificial light source to work with.
Like a fashion runway.
But that's all that ever was. A thought.
Fast forward to 2014.
A fellow photographer from Calgary, Tim Nguyen of Citrusphotography, had come up with a large, metal Lightbox.
Since I had played with the idea for a few years already, I had put aside some materials over time.
Seeing Tim's amazing results finally gave me the drive to build my very own.
It took me the entire winter of 2014 to get it done.
Originally built to allow for some fun costume projects with Melissa, the box sat for most of 2015. Although about a year later, I convinced a fellow bodybuilder from Cochrane, Cole Denesiuk, to step on the structure and we achieved some great, dramatic looking results.
Dustin Lezubski, a co-worker of mine at the time, approached me in April 2017 and told me that he owned a movie quality suit from the SPIDERMAN (C) franchise, knowing that I enjoyed taking pictures of action toy figures and people in costumes. (check out the toys_n_costumes section).
On the 18th of April of 2017 he donned the Peter Parker outfit and got comfortable posing on the what I had to referred to hitherto as the LIGHTBOX.
Although skeptical at first, I believe that he was quite happy with the final outcome.
There are a bunch of interesting ideas at the horizon that will see Melissa dress up and pose.
Hopefully soon.
If you, or anyone you know, has a great idea for some costume or Superhero theme, or if you're a dancer or fitness enthusiast, send us an email and we can explore the possibilities.
Keep in mind that this is not our professional occupation, therefore any requests that we might fulfil have to be managed around our work schedules and processing times can be longer than usual.
But hey, you'll get some fun images, and we'll get to post some on here.
